(Las Vegas, NM)- Alta Vista Regional Hospital is pleased to welcome Mario Leyba, M.D., to our hospital’s medical staff and community.  A native of Mora County, Dr. Leyba received his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  He finished his training in the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency 5 year program in General Surgery at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. 

“We welcome Dr. Leyba to our medical staff," says Richard Grogan, chief executive officer.  "He could have brought his skills to any hospital, anywhere in the country.  He chose to come here, back home.  I know the community will be just as impressed with his knowledge, compassion and dedication as we are.” 

Dr. Leyba joins our team of surgeons, Dr. Joseph Brown, Gastroenterology and Dr. Salman Malik, General Surgeon at Alta Vista Surgical Specialists.  “I look forward to partnering with my patients to make a positive difference in their lives,” says Dr. Leyba.  “It is great to be back home.”

Dr. Leyba hobbies include outdoor activities including hiking, fishing and hunting.  He enjoys sports and a good game of chess.
