Alta Vista Regional Hospital Names New CEO
(Las Vegas, NM)- Alta Vista Regional Hospital announced today that Maridel Acosta has been named Chief Executive Officer. She has served as interim CEO since September 27, following the resignation of Richard Grogan.
Maridel is an enthusiastic and accomplished leader who will be a good fit for the hospital and community, according to Wayne Sonchar, the hospital’s chairman of the board. “During her interim role she has demonstrated her commitment to moving forward enhancing relationships with the medical staff, employees and the community, and positioning the hospital for future success."
Maridel, who is bilingual and multicultural, has a 15-year healthcare background that includes clinical, management and hospital administrative experience. She started her career in the clinical laboratory, and advanced to management and administrative roles while earning a masters degree in business administration from the University of Texas in Dallas. Most recently, Maridel was associate CEO at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell.
“Here in Las Vegas people have made me feel at home,” said Maridel. “I’m impressed with the medical staff and healthcare team, and I look forward working with everyone to make Alta Vista the premier destination of healthcare for our community and the region – a center of excellence not only for patients to receive high quality healthcare, but also for physicians to practice, and for employees to have a great, safe and supportive place to work.”
"There's a strong team in place and Maridel's leadership will keep the momentum at the hospital, said Joseph "Sandy" Brown, M.D., AVRH's Chief of Staff. "She is very personable and professional and her knowledge will be a tremendous asset to our hospital and community. She is doing a great job keeping continued focus on patient satisfaction and doing what’s in the best interest of our patients."
