(Las Vegas, NM) - Alta Vista Regional Hospital announced it will continue its monthly series of free seminars, health fairs, educational programs and interactive events that will focus on women. Healthy Woman programs are dedicated to improving the emotional, physical and fiscal well-being of both women and the families for which they care.
Healthy Woman will celebrate its anniversary on Thursday, February 17, at The Night Owl in Las Vegas. A free health fair and woman’s expo will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by a dinner at 6:30 p.m. featuring nationally-noted speaker, Lisa Smartt, who will address women’s health and life balance issues. Her presentation is entitled, “Hope for women who can’t find their keys: Confessions of an imperfect woman.” The cost for the keynote speaker and dinner is $10.00.
Lisa Smartt is a 46 year old woman who loves to laugh! Born in a small town in West Kentucky, she now writes a weekly humor column from her home outside Dresden, Tennessee. She lives on 16 wooded acres with her husband of 21 years, two sons (who sometimes fight), and four male cats who desperately need Prozac. Her first book was released in 2007 entitled, “The Smartt View: Life, Love, and Cluttered Closets.” Public Speaking is Lisa’s passion. She has spoken to groups around the country on subjects like “Contentment in a Discontent World” and “We’re All in the Same Boat, So Grab a Lifeline.” Lisa believes laughter is a gift and LOVES to share with others her personal weakness, struggles, and the sheer JOY of daily living!
Women, who make between 80 and 90 percent of all healthcare decisions, often balance careers, primary and secondary families, issues with parents, and civic work. Alta Vista Regional Hospital’s free Healthy Woman program has supported a healthy body, mind and spirit for women and their loved ones.
“You are invited to celebrate with us,” says Maridel Acosta, chief executive officer at Alta Vista Regional Hospital. “I look forward to Lisa Smartt’s inspiring and humorous talk.”
The monthly Healthy Woman presentations cover a variety of health related topics. Health care topics include pertinent information on heart disease, diabetes, breast cancer, menopause, nutrition, osteoporosis, stress management and life balance.
